Gilmore-waterman law enforcement scholarship

Established in 2015 by the Montrose County Board of County Commissioners, the Gilmore-Waterman Law Enforcement Scholarship honors the dedicated service of former Montrose County Sheriffs Tom C. Gilmore and Warren L. Waterman. Sheriff Gilmore served as sheriff for 20 years, and Sheriff Waterman served as sheriff for 8 years, both with distinction and commitment to public service.

The scholarship supports Montrose County residents pursuing a career in law enforcement by helping cover a portion of the cost of attending a local law enforcement training academy and obtaining Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification.

Each year, scholarship(s) of up to $2,000 are awarded through the Montrose Community Foundation (MCF), which oversees the financial aspect of the scholarship fund.

Eligible applicants must be Montrose County residents and currently enrolled in or actively attending a local law enforcement training academy.  To apply, visit: http://montrosecf.com/apply-for-a-scholarship/
