According to the Colorado General Assembly, effective July 1, 2025, all renewal and new CHP applicants must have a certificate from a verified firearm instructor to proceed with their application.
If you should have any questions regarding a concealed handgun permit, you can email us at rhanvelt@montrosecounty.net or call us at 970-252-4023.
You must submit a concealed handgun permit application (renewal and new) to the county sheriff’s office where you reside, own property, or own a business.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit for renewal of the concealed handgun permit within 120 days before the expiration date on the permit card in the county in which you currently reside. If your permit has expired for more than six months, you must begin the process with a new application, including submitting the $80.00 new application fee.
If you are changing your address before expiration, please visit the Address, Name Change or Loss of CHP page.
