Montrose, COLO.— On June 6, at 12:32 p.m., a 911 call was made for two vehicles involved in a crash on US 550. Both vehicles were traveling northbound toward Montrose. A driver in a truck hit the rear end of a white Nissan Altima at mile marker 124.1, north of Solar Road. Candace Smith, a 34-year-old female of Montrose, Colo., and Trinity Hasse, a 43-year-old female of Montrose, Colo., both died at the scene.
The case is currently under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol and the Montrose County Coroner’s Office of Medical Investigation. At this time, the cause and manner of death are under investigation pending the results of an autopsy.
