Fire Behavior: Fire behavior today has been minimal with creeping and smoldering activity.

Summary: At 10 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, the lightning-caused Tabeguache Fire was reported seven miles northeast of Nucla, CO, on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG).
The fire is approximately 500 acres and is 65 percent contained. There are currently 134 firefighters working in steep terrain comprised of pinyon-juniper and brush. Firefighters have taken advantage of reduced fire activity and made good progress on the east, south, and west sides of the fire. No structures have been damaged, and none are threatened at this time.
Fire Behavior: Fire behavior today has been minimal with creeping and smoldering activity.

Summary: At 10:34 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, the lightning-caused Tabeguache fire was reported seven miles northeast of Nucla, CO on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG).
The fire has grown to approximately 500 acres and is ten percent contained. Additional resources arrived today and there are now approximately 100 firefighters working in steep terrain comprised of pinyon-juniper and brush. The fire area received rain overnight, which has led to reduced fire activity today. Today’s firefighting operations have focused on securing the east and south flanks of the fire. No structures have been lost, and none are threatened at this time.
Fire Behavior: Low to moderate fire behavior with fire creeping and smoldering along with some isolated tree torching.

Latest update on the #TabeguacheFire from the U.S. Forest Service-Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre & Gunnison National Forests
At 10:34 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, the lightning-caused Tabeguache fire was reported seven miles northeast of Nucla, CO on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG).
The fire is approximately 155 acres and zero percent contained as of 8:00 p.m. Approximately 80 firefighters are working in steep terrain comprised of pinyon-juniper and brush with moderate to high fire behavior with some isolated torching. Firefighters are being assisted by both helicopters dropping water directly on the fire and air tankers dropping retardant to slow the spread of fire. Additional resources have been ordered. Currently, there are no structures threatened. The fire is currently receiving a fair amount of precipitation.
Road Closures due to fire activity:
· Pinto Mesa Road (National Forest Service Road (NFSR) 660
· 25 Mesa Road (Delta-Nucla Road) is closed between the Forest boundary outside of Nucla, Colorado and NFSR 640.
Firefighter and public safety will remain the priorities on this incident.

At 10:34 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, the Tabeguache fire was reported seven miles northeast of Nucla, CO on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG).
The first engine crew on scene found a five to seven acre fire burning on a steep hillside primarily in pinion-juniper and brush. Ground and air resources are actively suppressing this fire.
Current resources on scene are:
• 2 engines
• 1 helicopter with bucket and helitack crew
• 3 Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATS)
Additional resources are on order.
The cause of this fire has been determined to be lightning.
