Montrose, CO— On the afternoon of Friday, November 2, 2018, a single vehicle accident occurred when a vehicle traveling down Sunset Mesa Road approaching Chipeta Road lost control and slid down the embankment and rolled over one-and-a-half times. The driver was restrained by his seat belt and suffered no severe injuries. The passenger wasn’t restrained and was ejected sustaining fatal injuries.
The passenger has been identified as Mason D. McClenathan, 16, of Montrose. The cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries and the manner of death has been certified as an Accident.
The case is being investigated by the Montrose Police Department with the assistance of the Colorado State Patrol and the Montrose County Coroner’s Office of Medical Investigation.
