MCSO Recovers Body in South Canal

Montrose, COLO.—The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office has recovered a body following search efforts in the South Canal area. On May 5 at 7:37pm, the MCSO was alerted to a missing juvenile. The Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse was dispatched to assist with the search. Additionally, the Uncompahgre Valley Water User’s Association and Delta-Montrose Electric Association, as well as family and friends, were a part of the search efforts.

The search continued throughout the evening and authorities recovered the body early afternoon near the Drop Five Hydroelectric Generation Plant. At this time, the MCSO, in conjunction with the Montrose County Coroner’s Office of Medical Investigation, is conducting an investigation. The coroner’s office will release the identity and cause and manner of the death separately. The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office offers its condolences, and thoughts and prayers to the family and community members during this tragic time.
